"When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace"
ART
For my art project I intended to illustrate forgiveness and surrender, by looking at how different culture see it. Like for example the red figure represents Japan and their surrendering, so it was important that they would be painted bowing lower as that is what is appropriate in their culture. I then looked at Christianity and some of their symbolic figures like the dove meaning peace and the crown of thrones for the bombing the japan people had suffered.
HISTORY
For the History portion I wrote a piece explaining, what if Japan hadn't surrendered to America? Focusing on different scenarios gathered through research.
ENGLISH
For english I wrote two poems, a haiku and a sonnet, retelling both perspectives of an American and a Japanese during the time of the Hiroshima Bombing.
Hiroshima Bombing - Haiku
From the sky it came
on a hazy, august day
the flowers seemed heavy.
Loud noise then silent,
a smothering heatwave passed
through once modest homes.
A bright star falling,
like a mysterious blur
hitting the ground hard.
Debris filled their eyes
no walls were left to shelter,
humble lives once there.
Nothing left to ease
the painful deception now
in Hiroshima.

Hiroshima Bombing - Sonnet
The waves pull the ship like a puppet
Rocking the odds of survival for all.
The blood stained waters convict the culprit
Of a senseless murder, fearful overall
Items and belongings falling slowly
To the colorful, thriving ocean floor,
An attack to a peaceful mother nature
Creatures scatter, flee, and some encaptured.
As if a swarm of sharks swooped in
Hiding, waiting moving like a breeze
Quiet, calming never miss a wave
Hoping to snatch their next prey.
Leaders thrive in control but fear power
Like a boat sailing through the currents.
Rocking the odds of survival for all.
